Do You Wrap Your Hair In A Towel When You Get Out Of The Shower? You’re Making A Big Mistake!
We all want our hair to look beautiful, be soft and shiny, that it does not fall too much. But the reality is that much of what our hair looks like depends on how we care for it on a daily basis. There are some very common hair care mistakes that most of us don’t even realize we’re making, which could damage the hair in long run. So here’s the list of most common hair care mistakes that you need to stop making.
1. NOT CLEANING COMBS REGULARLY
Dirty hair brushes and combs transfer dust particles, oil and build-up on scalp which is definitely not good for hair. You should wash your comb/brushes with warm water and soap at least once a weak.
2. YOU SHAMPOO TOO FREQUENTLY
Those with long hair loves to shampoo their hair every day without realizing the actual damage. Most shampoos have chemicals that can strip hair of its natural oils, causing terrible dryness. Ideal amount to shampoo your hair is two to three times per week. Also try only washing the roots, where most of the oils accumulate, and try to avoid washing the ends.
3. NOT RINSING THE SHAMPOO OUT ENTIRELY
Shampoo is intended to suck all the dirt and oil out of your hair. If you don’t rinse thoroughly, you will have leftover shampoo in your hair. This leftover shampoo will actually attract dirt and cause your hair to get dirtier faster.
4. NOT ALLOWING YOUR HAIR TO DRY ENOUGH BEFORE PUTTING PRODUCT INTO IT
Placing product into your hair while it is still wet is a common mistake everyone make. The water still in your hair will actually dilute the product and cause it to run through your hair. Therefore, making it less effective. Your hair should be almost dry before you begin styling with product. This will give you more control of your hairstyle.
5. DRYING YOUR HAIR WITH A TOWEL
Towel drying your hair may feel good but it is not really good for your hair. Wrapping towel around your head could damage hair follicles. Even rubbing hair with a towel can rough up the cuticle (outer layer of the hair), causing it to look frizzy or fluffy and potentially lead to more breakage. If you need to dry your hair in a hurry, use a cotton T-shirt instead of a towel.
6. WASHING YOUR HAIR WITHOUT COMBING IT FIRST
To avoid breakage, give your hair a quick comb through before showering. As wet hair is easily prone to damage and hair fall so by doing so, it helps you avoids tangles and reduces hair damage later.
7. GOING TO SLEEP WITH WET HAIR
Your hair is its weakest when it’s wet, so sleeping on wet hair can cause damage and frizz as you move your head while you snooze. Over time, this can also lead to breakage.
8. WASHING YOUR HAIR WITH HOT WATER
Many people use excessively hot water when washing their hair. Hot water strips your hair of color and activates the oil-producing glands. Use lukewarm water which cleans dirt, dilutes the oil secretion & improves blood circulation.
